When do the Auger Masterclasses take place? What is the duration of the activity?

The Auger International Masterclasses happen every year, included in the IPPOG program of International Masterclasses, which typically goes from mid-February to the end of March. During this period, there are about 5 Auger events, each event corresponding to one full-day activity.
How can I participate?

Registrations to the masterclasses open typically during November. Whether you are an interested student, teacher or organizer, you may find all the information needed to take part at the following webpage: ippog.org/international-masterclasses/imc-take-part.
Can I organize my own Auger Masterclass?

Yes, you can perform the activity locally and in an autonomous manner. For this purpose, please send an email to augermasterclasses@lip.pt and we will open one entry in the webpage for your activity and provide the necessary remote support.

Where can I find the instructions to organize the activity at my institution?

You may find supporting documentation here: augermasterclasses.lip.pt/downloads. We will also organize a preparatory videoconference for general instructions and to answer questions from the participating institutions.

What are the requirements for the realization of the activity?

Every group of one or two students should work on a computer with internet connection, with access to the student activity guide.
There is no student activity guide in my native language; how can I have one?

We can provide an english template of the student activity guide and will be very grateful if you translate it to your native language, after which we will upload it to the webpage to become accessible for students in future editions.
Where can I have access to the datasets?

We will indicate the datasets to the participating institutions beforehand.

Do you provide a certificate of organization or a certificate of participation?

Yes, upon request.

My pc crashed during the activity; is my analysis lost?

No, you are able to recover your previous analysis work up to the moment of the crash. In order to do so, please reopen the program, click on “Read Events File” and reopen the dataset ile stored in your machine, which now contains also the information from your previous analysis.
I cannot access the Auger Masterclasses webpage; what shall I do?

The server might be temporarily down due to coping with multiple requests, but it will recover soon. Please just wait one or two minutes and try again.
The software is compatible with what operating systems?

It is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux.
What are the pc requirements?

Windows 7+, Mac: MacOS 10.13+, Ubuntu 18.04+ or centos 7+.
Can I use a virtual machine?

The use of virtual machines is not recommended because there is a 3D graphical interface and you’ll have low performance.

For the energy reconstruction, I cannot make the fit converge; what shall I do?

You might try to go back a few steps and check if some background station was not removed or refine your adjustment of the azimuth angle. Beware that not all the fits will be optimal so, after some time, you will have to make a decision, as an analyst, to either try to further improve it or just leave it like that.
For the energy reconstruction, there are no data points to fit; why?

This might be a bug in the software. Please skip this event.
I did not have time to finish analyzing all my events; what now?

There is no problem. Your results will be joined to the results of other students, in order to gather high statistics and the overall results will be analyzed together.
